Brendan Joel Hildebrandt is a director and cinematographer from Perth, Western Australia.

His early work included music videos for local artists and an audio/visual stage show created with vocal-loop artist Sam Perry. He later worked across independent narrative projects in Perth and Sydney before completing a Master of Screen Studies at the WA Screen Academy, specialising in cinematography.

His debut documentary, Dr Russell’s Imaginarium, was broadcast nationally on SBS, and its follow-up series, World of Curiosities, received a WA Screen Culture Award.

Drawn to ambitious ideas, peculiar characters and unusual worlds, Brendan is currently developing original narrative films through Whereto Pictures, alongside documentary and story-led factual work through Stir Films.
